With the country amid the self-isolation period, HTTV recently caught up with First Team Coach Mark Hudson to hear how his family have been getting on in these unprecedented times.

Like most of the UK, Mark and his family have been on lockdown in their house for the past few weeks, but Town fans will be happy to hear that all the Hudson family are fit and healthy!

It’s an unusual time for Mark and his family. The First Team Coach has taken up a temporary teaching role as school closures mean that himself and his wife must home-school their children.

Mark discussed with #HTTV how the home-schooling is going alongside the challenges that come with it.

“We’re trying to stick to school hours, we give them breaks and food at the right time.

“Trying to get two brothers to sit next to each other and concentrate on two different sets of work is quite difficult.”

What is relatable for many parents is how they’ve all had to get creative in order to think of ways to keep the family entertained when confined to their house. Mark explained what his family have been up to in order to alleviate the boredom.

“We started in the first week building a den, whilst the weather was nice, we tried to do stuff outside.

“They love colouring in and are very creative, they’re very good at creating games for each other, we’ve done quite a lot.”

Mark also expressed the importance of keeping physically active throughout this period and making sure his children are aware of the current situation that his family face.

“I think you have to keep doing exercise, I’ve been doing more now since this has all happened than I would do normally day to day.

“We’ve talked to the kids about it as well, it’s important that they know, as the unknown can be unsettling.”

For the Town fans out there missing watching The Terriers and longing for that John Smith’s match day to return, Mark signed off with a final message to keep your spirits lifted.

“The quicker we can get past this, the quicker we can get back to football and by doing what the government have asked from us, I think football will be back soon enough.”
