- Today we look at Head of First Team Operations, Mark Fagan
With the coronavirus currently postponing Town’s fixture list, we’ve decided to introduce you to some of our First Team and Academy Staff - today we look at Head of First Team Operations, Mark Fagan!
Mark joined the Terriers ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, and what a campaign that was!
Mark’s job entails all the logistical planning for the First Team, including away games, training camps and player appearances. He also supports new signings and their families when they relocate to the Club.
The nature of Mark’s job means he doesn’t have a stereotypical average day, and sees him work with a number of different staff.
“Every day is completely different.
“It can range from attending player appearances, to reacting to any circumstances that may have cropped up for the players or the squad.
“I work very closely with Danny Cowley and the First Team players.
“I also work closely with Ann Hough, and the media team.”
Whilst joining ahead of one of the most historic seasons for Town created plenty of memories to last a lifetime, Mark admits it also came with its challenges.
“Everything around the Play-Off Final was a big challenge - from arranging the last-minute training camp to Portugal, to ensuring everything was right for Wembley.
“Then the transition from the Championship to the Premier League immediately after the Final was a big challenge for myself and the entire Club.”
Mark went on to discuss that there are many aspects of his job that he is grateful for.
“My favourite part of my job is enabling and watching the interaction between the fans and our players.
“Our players do some great work with the Supporter Services Department and the Town Foundation.
“To be a small part of that is very rewarding!”
If you feel inspired to research Mark’s profession, he has some words of advice!
“Gain as many different experiences in sport as possible, it’ll really benefit you in the long run.”
