KARLAN INTO LAST 16 OF THE FOOTBALL MANAGER CUP

28 April 2020

Karlan Grant’s Football Manager Cup journey continues with Huddersfield Town

- Karlan Grant wins second game in charge of Huddersfield Town
- Grant’s Terriers beat Walsall in the last 32 of the Football Manager Cup
- Emile Smith Rowe scored a last-gasp winner

Huddersfield Town’s Football Manager Cup journey continued as Karlan Grant’s side beat Walsall 1-0 in the Second Round.

The striker made two changes to his starting line-up brining Juninho Bacuna and Chris Willock to replace Lewis O’Brien and Elias Kachunga.

It was a fairly even start to the game, but after 10-minutes the Sky Bet League 2 side were reduced to 10-men. Liam Kinsella was sent off for a rash two-footed tackle on Emile Smith Rowe.

After the red, Karlan’s side became dominant and had a golden opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot. Who other than virtual Karlan Grant stepped up, but fired well wide, to the amazement of his manager!

That didn’t deter the Terriers who continued to create chances. Virtual Karlan head wide after connecting with a deep free-kick before being pulled off by his Manager, who was less than impressed with his performance!

Town continued to pile on the pressure and that finally paid off in the dying moments of the game.

Last week’s match winner, Juninho Bacuna, curled an excellent ball into the box, which was guided into the back of the net by Emile Smith Rowe. Who doesn’t love a last-minute winner? Karlan certainly did, bringing in his dog for celebrations!

The draw for the Third Round of the competition is on Sunday 3 May 2020.
