On his birthday, you can indulge in the highlights of Elias Kachunga’s Huddersfield Town career as we take a look at the DR Congo international’s time as a Terrier so far.

Elias Kachunga came to Huddersfield Town on loan from German side FC Ingolstadt in June 2016 ahead of the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign. He made a big impression on his debut, scoring the first goal in a 2-1 win over Brentford, asserting a memorable highlight early on in his Town career.

Kachunga’s positive impact continued throughout the whole season and he became a key part of Town’s journey to Premier League promotion, scoring 12 goals in his 42 league appearances that season.

The forward's remarkable performance throughout the Premier League promotion winning season sealed the fan’s admiration for him and became one of the big highlights of his Town career.

Kache’s move to Huddersfield Town was his first time moving away from his home country and playing for a team on foreign soil. In his first ever interview with Huddersfield Town, Kachunga explained the personal leap this move but how focused he was to ensure he made a positive impact on the club.

“It’s a big step in my life, coming to a new country, new club and league but I hope I can help the team to have a good season.”

And that he certainly did! Another highlight of Kachunga’s Town career, and arguably one of his best, was his last-minute winner against Derby County in front of the ecstatic home crowd. His goal triggered immense scenes in the stands as David Wagner ran down the touchline to join in with the celebrations, providing the wild John Smith’s hysterics Town fans love.

His role in Town’s promotion did not go unnoticed, the fans love for the German grew ever strong as the season played out and by March 2017, Town had secured a deal with Ingolstadt to turn Kachunga’s loan into a permanent transfer.

Since Town’s Premier League promotion, Kachunga has remained a key part of Town’s squad and has withheld positivity through the good times and bad. He is a firm favourite amongst the adoring Town fans and a powerful asset in the Cowley brother’s arsenal, there really ‘Ain’t Nobody Like Kachunga’!
