Terence Kongolo insists Huddersfield Town have to learn from their mistakes and stay positive following defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Steven Fletcher and Sam Winnall were enough to condemn Town to defeat in the Yorkshire derby at the John Smith’s Stadium.

When speaking to #HTTV after the game, Terence explained how everyone has to stick together.

“We have to stay positive, stay together and move on to the next game. We have to give everything and get some more points.

“At 1-0, we had to stay positive because we had to finish the game, so we had to try and score a goal. We had to stick together and stay positive.”

Despite playing at left-back, Terence often found himself in attacking areas of the pitch during the game as Town attacked in numbers from the start.

“Even though I’m a defender, I need to score. I had some chances, next time I have to put it in.”

The game was Danny Cowley’s first as Huddersfield Town manager after he was appointed earlier in the week.

Although Danny, and brother Nicky, have only had a few days to work with the players, Terence already has a good feeling from his first few days of working with them.

“There’s a new manager now so he comes with new things. I’m very positive about them, they’re really good and I hope in the future we can get some more wins.”

The Town fans gave the Cowley brothers a warm welcome to West Yorkshire and created a lively atmosphere inside the John Smith’s Stadium right from kick-off.

“The fans are amazing; they still support us. They give us the power on the pitch, I’m happy with the fans, we have to win for them.”

Next up for the Terriers is a trip to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship on Sunday 22 September (noon kick-off). Terence insists the team have to learn from their mistakes and pick up a positive result in the Midlands.

“Every day in training you learn, we have to learn from our mistakes, stay positive and against West Brom we have to win.”
