In the run up to Huddersfield Town’s Sky Bet Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday, htafc.com are taking a look back at the second leg of the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs from the 2016/17 season.
The Terriers beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-3 on penalties at Hillsborough.
Steven Fletcher put the Owls ahead in the second half when he headed home Barry Bannan's cross. Town responded well when Collin Quaner squared a low ball across the face of goal, which Tom Lees inadvertently diverted in to level the tie with 15 minutes to go.
Both teams had chances to win it in extra time but Nahki Wells fired into the side netting after a mishit-shot broke to him.
The penalty shoot-out was full of drama, with Chris Löwe, Michael Hefele, Nahki Wells and Aaron Mooy all finding the back of the net.
But it was Liverpool loanee Danny Ward who was the star of the moment, when he dived to his right to keep Fernando Forestieri's effort out and set up an appearance against the Royals at Wembley.
