New Huddersfield Town signing Danny Simpson explained that Danny and Nicky Cowley were the main reason he wanted to join the Club.

Danny spent two weeks on trial at Town’s PPG Canalside Training Ground before signing permanently today.

The defender discussed how the initial phone call with Danny Cowley peaked his interest in moving to Yorkshire.

“As soon as I spoke to them on the phone I was pretty much sold!

“The level of detail that they go in to and from what I have seen already, they work 24 hours a day trying to help and be the best they can, so they can improve the team and the players.

“I’ve only been here a few weeks and I’ve got a good relationship and like I said I’m really impressed with them. I think it’s great for the Club that they’re in charge.”

The 2015/16 Premier League title winner spoke about how his different experiences can help the team and his teammates.

“I’ve got a lot of experience now, it’s strange, I still think I’m young in my head,” said Danny.

“At Leicester I was a bit similar, I was helping out young lads, any knowledge I can pass on to them I will do.

“Just getting to know even the experienced lads, picking their brains about what can be done to help.

“Off the pitch that’s just me, I’m a winner, I want to win every game, I want to be the best I can be and if I can do that here and help some of the others, then I’ll try my best.

“On the pitch, I think the fans will see that I’ll fight, and I will fight until the end and I’ll give my best.

“Like I said I’m a winner and I hate losing. Hopefully, things will start to change.”

Town are currently in a difficult situation sitting at the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, but helping the Club is something that excites the defender.

“I’m in now and I like a challenge and right now it’s a challenge.

“Like I said, I’ll try my best to help the team, help the Club and help the fans.

“For me, if you can get out of this current situation and I’ve played my part and then you can look at things after that and kick on.

“But yeah like I said, it is a challenge and that’s what I want. And hopefully I’ll do my best.”
