Young Terrier talks ahead of Saturday’s game against Lincoln City

Huddersfield Town Under-17 midfielder Luke Billam has recently returned to training after recovering from a quad injury.
Like his teammates, Billam moved to Huddersfield Town during the summer, but hasn’t gained as many minutes as he would’ve hoped after picking up a muscle injury.
However, after returning the training, he’s keen to get back on the pitch and to continue his development.
“The rehab here has been brilliant, so I’m lucky that I’ve been able to get back as soon as possible,” said the youngster.
“My main focus post-injury is to get back into the squad, get as many minutes as I can, and hopefully progress into Dean (Whitehead)’s team as soon as possible and move forward from there.”
The midfielder was quick to speak about what he’s focusing on in sessions now he’s recovered.
“Jon’s been working with me as a left winger and a left back, and I’ve been focusing on lots of different movements coming in from the side to receive the ball.
“It’s been positive all round. There’s a lot of focus on footwork and I’ve been focusing on getting as many touches as possible in training and working in different scenarios.
“I’ve learnt a lot about working hard, being consistent and resilient and striving forward.”
The youngster was also keen to highlight how settling into a team where the majority of the players were new has been beneficial to the squad.
“It’s really helped that we’re all in the same situation.
“It’s been good because we’ve all come together nicely, and the collectiveness has made the team a lot stronger as well.”
Billam and his Under-17 teammates play Lincoln City in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday (26 October 2019), with the 11.30am kick-off taking place at Riseholme College, Showground Campus (LN1 2ZR).
