Tommy Elphick explained the wonders tonight’s result will do in the Huddersfield Town dressing room.

The defender, who is a big leader both on and off the pitch, detailed how hard the Cowleys have been working to create a new spirit in the group and believes a ‘dirty’ win like that at Stoke will be great for the togetherness.

“Every person stood up and was counted, from the 11 that started to the three boys that came on; that’s a squad, that’s a group fighting for each other and hopefully we will only get better from here.

“The biggest satisfaction for me was that the goal came from the squad; that’s a group and a togetherness. That’s something we’ve been working on the spirit and the determination of the group.

“It’s these moments that bring you together.”

There’s been an improvement match on match since the Cowleys took charge and Elphick explained how important it is for that to continue.

“We gave ourselves a platform against West Brom, we took that forward and got our first point against Millwall at the weekend and we probably could’ve got three, and then tonight was a top away performance.

“The win’s a big moment for us, but it’s only one. We need to look forward, we have another big game coming up on Saturday.”

Another positive was the game management the Terriers showed after going ahead.

“We saw at West Brom that we went in front twice and we didn’t know how to deal with it,” said Tommy.

“I thought the way we managed the game tonight was unbelievable.”
