Huddersfield Town forward Elias Kachunga believes that the squad is continuously growing in confidence under Manager Danny Cowley.

Town face Barnsley in a Yorkshire-derby on Saturday at the John Smith’s Stadium as the Club look to build on an impressive run of form.

The Terriers go into the tie on a five-game unbeaten run, which has seen victories over Hull City and Stoke City, as well as draws against Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Millwall.

Kachunga believes that the positive run of form comes down to the players becoming more confident and comfortable with the tactics being implemented.

“In the last few games we played in a similar formation in every game. So, every player on the pitch gets more confidence in their positions and knows what they need to do.

“Speaking for myself, I have more confidence now on the ball, because I know how to play with each player in each position, if everyone gets more confidence it’s good for the team.

“If you play more with players, you get more confidence with them and your relationships get better. Then in the build-up and in open play you can play better.”

Cowley has previously spoken about how important of a player Kachunga is to his team, and the 27-year-old believes his relationship with the manager is improving his game.

“It’s good to feel confidence from the Manager, you know that in a tight game he won’t sub you out, you stay on the pitch. He knows that you can do something for the team.

“I’m really happy right now because I want to try to help the team, always, and it’s good to stay on the pitch.

“Everyone knows that I always try to help the team with my work-rate, I try to run a lot for the team. I try to build up my game around this, to work for the team first, then everything else comes.

“If the manager and everyone sees that I work hard for the team and try to help them, then I think it is really good for me. I get confidence and it’s good to feel that from everyone around.”

Saturday’s opponents Barnsley are without a league win since the opening game of the Sky Bet Championship season, but Kache is prepared for a tough test from the Tykes.

“Because of their situation, they will come to Huddersfield to fight and to give everything. So, we have to fight against them, we are at home, we have to be confident.

“We know the Championship is hard, the games come in really quick.

“Hopefully we can play a good game against Barnsley, it’s a really important game for both teams. We just have to give everything, especially at home with the supporters.”
