Dean Whitehead’s Young Terriers put in a comprehensive performance against Tranmere Rovers to win their second Central League game of the season.

Eight minutes before half-time Town went ahead. George Alfieri floated an inviting corner into the area which was met emphatically by the head of Elliott, leaving ‘keeper Luke Pilling with absolutely no chance.

In the second half Josh Austerfield doubled Town’s lead. Remi Thompson epitomised the high press that the youngsters displayed throughout the afternoon by winning the ball high up the field. He then fed the ball through to Austerfield who made no mistake in slotting home.

Scott High made it three. He picked up the ball in space at the edge of the area and curled an exquisite low drive in off the far post.

Town’s Elite Development Team is back in action on Saturday!

The Young Terriers will face Rangers at PPG Canalside in the game that will kick-off at 11am and supporters can attend!

Over the course of the 2019/20 campaign, Town’s youngsters will face Aberdeen, Brentford B, Celtic, Hibernian and Rangers both home and away.

In the friendlies players under the age of 21 can be used, however, three overage players and one overage goalkeeper can feature.
