Town beat Chesterfield in behind-closed-doors game

- First Team players travel to Chesterfield for behind-closed-doors game
- Alex Pritchard gets first minutes following knee injury
- Kit Elliott and Isaac Mbenza were on the scoresheet

Eight First Team players gained valuable minutes during the international break in a behind-closed-doors game against Chesterfield.

The match was arranged to give those players who may not have had as many competitive minutes as others, or those players coming back from injury, a chance to build their match fitness.

There was a welcome return for Alex Pritchard! The attacking midfielder has yet to feature for the Cowleys due a knee injury, however, he completed 45 minutes in the game earlier today, which will help his return to First Team action.

Danny Cowley led the team, alongside Academy Manager Leigh Bromby, to cast an eye over the players that were involved as he continues to develop his style of play and learn about his squad.

Town ran out 2-0 winners; young Academy striker Kit Elliott opened the scoring, before winger Isaac Mbenza doubled Town’s lead through an excellent free-kick.

Kit was one of the youngest players to start the match, alongside left-back Ben Jackson, who is currently on loan at Stockport County.

The bench was made up of Young Terriers, with all the outfielders coming on during the game.

Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley commented:

“It was a good test for the players against a Chesterfield First Team and was a good opportunity to get more minutes in the players’ legs.

“Their attitude and application were really good throughout the game and it was a really worthwhile experience for us.

“It was also a great opportunity for Pritch to get some minutes. He’s been back in full training this week and he worked hard in the first half against Chesterfield.”
