Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley explained that his players have worked hard on developing their style of play during the international break.

The Terriers are on a three-game unbeaten run ahead of Saturday’s game against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

When speaking to the press, Town’s Manager explained how the players have benefitted from the international break.

“The international break has been good. We’ve been able to get a lot of good work in.

“I think it was a crazy first 30 days, so this gave us an opportunity to reflect and have a look at the work that we’ve done and then also add to it. So we’ve had a good couple of weeks.

“We’ve been able to get some more information to the players and some more understanding and some further alignment.

“We’ve been working the last two weeks on our organisation in and out of possession and from restarts.

“We’ve continued to work on how we want to play in possession and giving players the framework and understanding within that, so they can problem solve like they have to once the ball starts rolling.

“We’ve got some framework for how we want to play and now it’s about layering that learning and understanding and getting to a place, with continued rehearsal, that the players get into a place where decision making almost becomes autonomous and they start to gain a better understanding of each other and the relationships.”

Blackburn Rovers come into the game after a loss against QPR, however Town’s Manager detailed the threat that Rovers pose.

“I think Blackburn are a really good team. Tony Mowbray has done a very good job there.

“He’s developed a really good squad, good depth, good quality and good characters.

“I look at them and have been really impressed with what I’ve seen. They have the ability to go forward a bit quicker or they have the quality to be able to build as well.

“When they build, they have good players who can build and break the lines.

“We understand where Blackburn’s strengths are, we respect them as opponents, and we anticipate that it’ll be a really tough game on Saturday.”

Danny Cowley wasn’t able to call on the services of Terence Kongolo or Alex Pritchard before the international break but is hoping to be able to on Saturday. He also gave an update on Collin Quaner.

“Pritch played the first half (behind-closed-doors game against Chesterfield) and looked bright. He’s technically and outstanding player and will definitely add to this group.

“It’s a real positive that he’s been back on the grass and he’s had another really good week this week, so we are in a position that he’s available on Saturday.

“Terence has been on the grass, which has been a real positive. It’ll be good to have him back because he’s available.

“Collin had an operation in Germany and that was a very successful operation. He’s now on his way back in terms of his rehabilitation and we are hopefully he’ll be back and able to train in the very near future.”
