Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley was delighted with his side’s character to come from behind at Ewood Park.

Despite going a goal ahead, the Terriers went in 2-1 down at half-time. However, the players showed a great response in the second half and found an equaliser through substitute Juninho Bacuna.

When speaking after the game, Danny Cowley thought the character his side showed in the second period highlighted how the players’ mentality has developed during their tenure.

“We started the game really well. We were pleased with the early passage. We got some good control, looked a threat on the counter and scored a great goal. We got a good rhythm in our build up play and had a good place in the game.

“Then we conceded the goal that we did. It wasn’t the goal that disappointed me, it was more the response on the back of the goal. Players are going to make mistakes. If we are going to build centre-halves will make between 80 and 100 passes in a game, they are going to make the odd technical error. We will try to keep working on our response to give the ball away.

“The disappointment was that we were too fragile after that. We then ended up stopping building, stopping being brave on the ball, got deep, were passive in midfield and allowed them to wrestle the control back of us. It took for us to get back in at half-time and highlight that really.

“That for me is actually the most pleased I’ve been at the final whistle because I wasn’t sure how we would respond to disappointment.

“The fact at half-time we could’ve gone under, and maybe six weeks ago we would go under, but we showed a lot of fortitude, fight and reliance and got ourselves back in the game.

“Certainly, in the second half we played with a higher pressure, more energy, more intent and more purpose and that’s how we want to play.”
