U17S: BAXTER-ALLEYNE LEARNING MORE ABOUT HIS POSITION

22 November 2019

Young Terrier speaks ahead of tomorrow’s EFL Youth Alliance game

- Under-17s welcome Scunthorpe United tomorrow (Saturday 23 November)
- Midfielder Darnel Baxter-Alleyne on how sessions are going
- Supporters can watch the fixture at PPG Canalside

Huddersfield Town Under-17 Darnel Baxter-Alleyne talks about what he's been learning so far this season.

Baxter-Alleyne used to be a part of the Academy at Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Leyton Orient, before moving to Huddersfield during the summer to join Town’s Under-17s setup.

Baxter-Alleyne was quick to talk about how he’s found living in Yorkshire.

“Cold, very cold!”

The young midfielder was also eager to talk about the difference between Huddersfield and his previous Clubs.

“It’s more welcoming.

“All the Coaches are nice, and they’ve been helping with my development and giving me good pointers.

“Jon Worthington, Lee Mellor, and Leigh Bromby – they’re all helping me to really improve.

“I’ve learnt a lot more about my position here and where to receive the ball to benefit the game.”

The Under-17s training is split into different blocks per session to target different key areas, something which Baxter-Alleyne has found beneficial.

“At the start we focused on emotion, then we moved on to building, then creating, so we focussed on how to create chances and movement patterns.

“We’ve just finished the fight zone, so what to do out of possession when we’re off the ball, and we’re now working on transition.

“Transition involves learning about what to do when we win the ball, or if we’ve just lost the ball, what our reactions are like.”

You can watch Baxter-Alleyne and his team mates in action tomorrow (Saturday 23 November) when they welcome Scunthorpe United to PPG Canalside. The game kicks off at 11am and Huddersfield Town supporters can watch the Under-17s in action for FREE!

Please note there's no parking available at PPG Canalside!
