P4P10: MAKING A DIFFERENCE

14 November 2019

Ruddi’s Retreat and Kirkwood Hospice each receive cheques for £37,140

- Dean and Janet Hoyle present cheques to local charities
- Made possible by the generosity of HTAFC supporters
- Funds will benefit people in the Kirklees area

Former Chairman Dean Hoyle and his wife Janet Hoyle made dreams happen this week by presenting two cheques for £37,140 each to Kirkwood Hospice and Ruddi’s Retreat as part of the fundraising for the P4P10 with Made by Cooper bike ride.

Made possible by the generosity of Town supporters who took to their bikes in May 2019 on the 323-mile event, the funds gifted to the charities will directly benefit people in our local community.

Ruddi’s Retreat aims to help families with seriously ill children to have access to a holiday home for free. They help children suffering from the effects and after effects of cancer treatment, life-limiting illnesses, or bereavement to enjoy a family holiday together with minimal financial cost and maximum fun!

Ali Waterhouse, founder of Ruddi’s Retreat, commented:

“It’s absolutely life changing, not only for the charity but for all the families that we help.

“Thank you very much, thank you.”

You can see her reaction below!

Kirkwood Hospice provides care for the people of Kirklees, whether in the hospice itself, in the home, or out in the community. It supports people living with life-limiting illnesses to make sure they have the opportunity to live the best quality of life possible and can make the most of the time they have left.

Kirkwood Physiotherapist, Lisa Wright, said:

“On behalf of Kirkwood Hospice I’d just like to say a massive thank you to everybody that took part in the cycling event this year.

“We can guarantee that that money will go to really good patient centred care here in the hospice and out in the community.”
