Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley is looking forward to a different proposition this Saturday when Town take on Preston North End.

When speaking to the press, the Terriers’ Manager admitted there’s a lot to admire about Preston’s squad.

“Their recruiting department deserve a lot of congratulations because they’ve signed a lot of players from the lower leagues, all that have been able to step up.

“They’ve done an amazing job as a football club in recent times and I think we’ll find a team that is very confident and very clear on how they want to play, have a game plan which fits the profile of the players that they have, and have a group of really hard working players that are incredibly humble and incredibly team-orientated.

“We watched them at Charlton on Sunday and been able to have a good look at them over recent games and there’s no surprise they are where they are. To be top of the division off the back of Sunday’s fixture says just how good a season they’re having.”

Town go into this game off the back off a win against Brentford, extending the Club’s unbeaten run.

Danny was quick to credit his players again this week, with particular praise for Christopher Schindler and Jon Stanković.

“Christopher’s an incredible player. It’s been a pleasure to work with him and get to know him but however good a player he is, he’s an even better person.

“He leads this group magnificently. He’s got all the values that we believe in and we really admire and if you look at him, if you wanted to create a professional footballer in terms of attitude and application, you would create him.

“Jon I would put in the same category in terms of a person as Christopher Schindler. He’s just a brilliant professional, a fantastic attitude, brilliant work ethic towards training every single day.

“We had a conversation (after the Brentford game) and Jon just said: ‘I’m really happy for the team but sad for myself’.

“The fact that he opened that conversation up that he’s so happy for the team says it all about Jon.

“The fact he was sad for himself, we get because he’s a real professional.

“Jon is pushing the centre halves every step of the way and that for us is very important because that is getting the most out of the players that come and play in that position, that is why he’s such a good team member.”

Danny Cowley has been without Terence Kongolo for the past month, as he’s been out with a calf injury.

He gave the latest on the defender and gave a full team update.

“The boys have been in excellent spirits and they’ve worked hard.

“We’re in good health which is pleasing.

“Collin Quaner is still recovering and Jaden Brown picked up an ankle injury at the weekend but we’re hopeful he’ll be available.

“Terence Kongolo has been with the group this week, it’s the first week he’s been able to train with the whole group which has been good.

“He’s been on the grass previously, but this is the first week he’s been with the group and been involved with the football activity and he’ll certainly be involved with the squad on Saturday.

“Steve Mounié had an issue with his toe but has trained today so hopefully that he’ll be available for Saturday.”
