Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley bemoaned his side’s performance as the Club was beaten by Preston North End.

The Terriers’ seven-game unbeaten run came to an end at Deepdale, in what was a below-par performance by Town.

When speaking after the game, Danny Cowley explained why he was so disappointed with his side’s showing.

“We are disappointed. I think we were out-fought first half, out-competed by a very good Preston team who were physical strong, on the front foot, ran really hard for each other and played with an incredible amount of desire; that was too much for us in the first half.

“We conceded an early goal, didn’t manage the period after the goal as well as we liked and we never gained a foothold in the game, which meant we spent the first 45 on the backfoot.”

There were some questionable moments during the game at Deepdale which frustrated Town’s Manager.

“It’s tough to give a free-kick away in that area with players with the quality of Gallagher, but its never ever a foul.

“I’ve watched it back three or four times and been in to see the referee who said if he had his time again, he would make some decision differently, which doesn’t help us now unfortunately, but that was never a foul.

“He’s only booked their player, no-one wants to see an opposing player sent-off, but when the tackle’s that reckless and high and has left Tommy Elphick with what looks like a pretty serious knee injury, it’s tough for us.

“Listen, let’s not hide behind referee decisions because the performance, particularly in the first 60 minutes, was nowhere near good enough. We didn’t play anywhere near to the levels we would expect of ourselves.”
