Defender Tommy Smith was happy to end the season on a high as Huddersfield Town picked up a point at St. Mary’s.
Alex Pritchard drew the Terriers level against Southampton in the second half, in what was a good, battling performance from Jan Siewert’s side.
When speaking to #HTTV after the game, Tommy explained how the last two performances send the players into the summer with a good feeling.
“It was important to perform like that, we haven’t had a lot to shout about this season, so to finish with a good point away from home was a nice way to end the season.
“We can go into the summer now knowing we’ve ended on a fairy positive note.
“It’s been difficult this season, I think everyone knows that, I’ve said it numerous times, so to collect back-to-back draws, two points in this league, is massive even if we’ve been relegated; it’s still nice to be able to collect points.
“To come away from home it’s always difficult, so to come here, get a point after falling behind, scoring a goal, and getting it back to 1-1, is a great feeling going into the summer.”
Since his appointment in January, Jan Siewert has been working tirelessly with the First Team squad to get across his methods, something Tommy believes the fans have been able to see in the last two games.
“I said from the minute he walked in it wasn’t going to be a quick fix; he’s not a magician.
“There’s not one manager in any league that could come in and change a club around like a drop of a hat; it doesn’t work like that.
“There’s some big football clubs in this league, a lot of talented players so for a manger to come in it takes time.
“I’m sure the manager knew that when he came in, the players knew that and I’m sure the fans knew that; it’s a work in progress. It looks now like it’s taking shape a little bit now.
“He’s got another summer and pre-season he can look forward to, to get his ideas more across to the players. We are looking forward to it.”
Tommy made his 200th appearance for Huddersfield Town this afternoon – a milestone he’s very proud of.
“It’s something I’ve been working towards; it’s nice to tick that one off. I’ve been at this Club a long time now, I’ve loved every single bit of it, the people I work with and the players I’ve played with.
“For the last few weeks it’s been on my mind and it’s been something I’ve been striving for it. It’s something I’m very proud of; it’s a great Football Club.”
