Jon Gorenc Stanković and Philip Billing receive first international senior team call-ups

- Jon Gorenc Stanković named in Slovenia’s Senior squad
- Philip Billing, Jonas Lössl and Mathias Zanka all called-up by Denmark
- Steve Mounié could feature in crucial AFCON qualifier

Two Huddersfield Town players have received their first Senior Team call-ups for their respective nations during the March international break.

Jon Gorenc Stanković has received his first ever call-up to Slovenia’s Senior Squad, which is managed by Matjaž Kek.

The defender has earned 18 caps for the Nation’s Under-21 side and will now make the step-up to the Senior Team after performing well in Town’s last three Premier League games.

The March 2019 international break will see the start of Slovenia’s UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers. The Nation has been drawn in Group G alongside Poland, Austria, Israel, FYR Macedonia and Latvia.

For Slovenia, the qualifying campaign will kick-off on Thursday 21 March 2019 against Israel at 7.45pm (UK time) at the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa, Israel.

Three days later on Sunday 24 March 2019, Slovenia will host FYR Macedonia at the Stožice Stadium, kicking off at 7.45pm.

Philip Billing also has the chance to earn his senior international cap as he’s been called-up to Denmark’s squad for the First Team.

Phil, who has eight caps for the Under-21s, has joined Jonas Lössl and Mathias Zanka in the senior squad ahead of the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Danes will compete in Group D, however, their first game in the international period is a friendly as they face Kosovo.

The match will take place on Thursday 21 March 2019, kicking off at 6pm (UK time) at the Pristina City Stadium.

Denmark’s Euro 2020 qualifying campaign kicks off five days later away to Switzerland on Tuesday 26 March 2019. The game will kick-off at 7.45pm (UK time) at the St. Jakob-Park.

Zanka currently has 20 caps to his name, whilst Jonas has one.

Steve Mounié has been called-up for Benin’s crucial African Cup of Nations clash against Togo.

The Squirrels are just one game away from qualifying for the African Cup of Nations – a feat the nation has only achieved three times since 1962.

Benin currently sit second in Group D, two points ahead of both Togo and Gambia. A win or draw against Togo would confirm the nation’s place in the summer’s competition.

The game will take place on Sunday 24 March 2019, kicking off at 3pm at Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou, Benin.
