“I didn’t imagine I would get this chance but when I got it, I think I took it” said Jon Gorenc Stanković who is delighted to have started Huddersfield Town’s last four Premier League games.

The young midfielder sustained damage to his anterior cruciate ligament whilst on international duty with Slovenia Under-21s in 2017 and has since battled to come back even stronger.

When speaking ahead of the Crystal Palace match, he explained how hard he worked to get back to full fitness, whilst explaining the biggest things he learned during his time on the sidelines.

“I learnt a lot since my injury,” Stanković told #HTTV.

“Probably the most valuable thing I learnt is patience.

“With patience I got through everything and of course everyone helped me. Every trainer, every

coach helped me, especially the fitness guys. I’m really thankful for them.”

Determined to fight for his first start under Jan Siewert, Stanković got his chance at home to Wolves and put in a man of the match performance and has been in the starting line-up ever since.

“It means the world to me (to play in the Premier League regularly).

“I think every player dreams of playing in the best leagues in the world.

“This was also my dream and it came true and now we have to keep on going.

“I’m working really hard since my injury. I still am!

“I am really happy with myself to get these four starts and was really proud of myself of what I’ve achieved.”

Stanković highlighted the importance of the fans support and hopes their incredible support will continue this weekend.

“We will keep fighting and do everything to win the game against Palace.

“We hope that supporters will still cheer for us and help us to make things easier.

“We will give it our best and our everything.”
