Huddersfield Town players Christopher Schindler, Chris Löwe and Rarmani Edmonds-Green surprised members of the Huddersfield Town Disabled Supporters Club (HTDSC) at their monthly social meeting last night as part of Level Playing Field’s Weeks of Action 2019.
The annual initiative, now in its 14th year aims to celebrate access and inclusion for disabled sports fans across England and Wales.
The players took part in a question and answer session, took photos and signed autographs for the supporters’ club members.
The #HTTV cameras went along to the meeting and you can see what happened below!
Supporter Services Manager, Robyn Kennerdale, commented:
“As a Club we are constantly working to improve the experience for our disabled supporters, and the HTDSC help us to do that by offering advice on accessibility and disabled facilities.
“It’s great we’ve been able to bring the players along to meet with the group and see how passionate they are about the Club.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming Level Playing Field to the Club in the coming weeks where they will deliver Disability Inclusion and Etiquette training to our staff.”
After attending the meeting, Town’s Club Captain, Christopher Schindler, added:
“We have to support everyone in the community. I knew from the first second I joined this Club that we are doing a lot for the community and for everyone in Huddersfield and the local area. I love being a part of it.
“I love occasions like this because we can help and be there for people, to make them close to us. It means a lot to them and we enjoyed it.”
Dave Heatherill, Chair of Town’s Disabled Supporters Club, said:
“It’s nice of these players to give up their private, personal time and it means a lot to us to have the players come to see us and have a question and answer session.
“I’ve never known such strong links like this with the Club especially through Andy (Booth), Rachel (Taylor) and Robyn (Kennerdale).
“I know if we ever need them I could contact them, and they will give us help or assistance in whatever we ask for.”
The HTDSC meet on the second Wednesday of each month at Almondbury Disabled Leisure Groups Club, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
