In the run up to Huddersfield Town’s 2019/20 season in the Sky Bet Championship, htafc.com will take a look at some of the most memorable fixtures against teams the Terriers will face – this time we’re looking back at Junior Mendes’ brace against Luton Town.
Peter Jackson’s Terriers performed admirably to beat table toppers Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
Former Club Captain Jon Worthington broke up play in the middle of midfield and found Mendes on the left wing. The striker cut inside onto his right foot and smashed an effort into the top corner from 20 yards out to give Town the lead.
Mendes was on the act again shortly after. This time he flicked a Tony Carss corner into the back of the net at the near post.
Paul Underwood grabbed a goal back for the Hatters just before the hour mark, but Peter Jackson’s side held on to earn all three points.
