In the run up to Huddersfield Town’s 2019/20 season in the Sky Bet Championship, htafc.com will take a look at some of the most memorable fixtures against teams the Terriers will face – this time, looking at former Head Coach David Wagner’s first win with the Club.
Back in December 2015, Huddersfield Town was battling relegation in the Sky Bet Championship table. However, a change of management saw David Wagner take over from Chris Powell as the Terriers’ Head Coach.
Coming from six consecutive losses, Town faced Birmingham City, who was sixth in the table, at the Midland’s Club’s St. Andrew’s.
Within 31 seconds of play, the Terriers went ahead thanks to a beautiful cross from Sean Scannell and a brilliant finish from Joe Lolley. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Huddersfield Town.
Town, that seemed to have a new-found confidence, continued to play well and the club’s lead was doubled late on. In the 81st minute, Nahki Wells struck taking the score to 2-0, meaning David Wagner had won his first game in charge at Town.
