Home pre-season friendly confirmed against top French club

- Huddersfield Town will face Montpellier HSC during pre-season
- Game will take place on Saturday 27 July 2019; 3pm kick-off
- Ticket prices and further details still to be confirmed

Huddersfield Town will welcome French Ligue 1 side Montpellier HSC to the John Smith’s Stadium on the eve of the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship season.

The Terriers will take on Montpellier on Saturday 27 July 2019 in a 3pm kick-off in Huddersfield, with ticket prices and further details still to be confirmed.

Montpellier will provide a very tough test for Jan Siewert’s side as the final friendly in the First Team’s pre-season schedule, arriving in Huddersfield on the back of a sixth placed finish in Ligue 1 in 2018/19.

The two clubs have worked together in recent seasons over the transfers of Steve Mounié and Isaac Mbenza from France to West Yorkshire and will now meet on the pitch for the first time.

A one-time winner of the French league championship and two-time cup winner, Montpellier’s team is managed by former player Michel Der Zakarian and boasts players such as 11-goal forward Gaëtan Laborde, creative midfielder Florent Mollet and experienced defender Daniel Congré.

The game follows on from last season’s showpiece home friendly against another top Ligue 1 outfit, Olympique Lyonnais, which Town won 3-1 on the evening.

The Montpellier match is the second confirmed pre-season friendly for the First Team, following on from the game at Rochdale on 17 July.

Siewert’s senior squad will also play friendlies, to be confirmed, during a week-long stay in Austria in early July.
