Young ‘keeper joins up with Italy’s Under-19s for the first time

- Young goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi joins Italy U19 training camp
- 17-year-old ‘keeper to join three-day training camp in Rome
- First call-up for the Young Terrier

Huddersfield Town Academy goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi has been called-up to Italy’s latest Under-19 training camp.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper will join up with Italy’s Under-19s for the first time for the three-day training camp in Rome.

The training camp will allow coaches Bernardo Corradi and Daniele Franceschini to look at a number of young players ahead of the summer’s European Championship.

In 2018, Italy’s Under-19 side was beaten by Portugal after extra-time in the final. For this summer, the youngsters have been drawn against Armenia, Portugal and Spain.

Giosue, who is eligible to play for England, Italy and Uganda, joined Town as a scholar prior to the 2018/19 season.

The Croydon-born ‘keeper was virtually ever-present for the Under-17s making over 30 appearances. He joined the Young Terriers from junior club Lambeth Tigers.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager, Leigh Bromby, commented:

“I’d firstly like to say congratulations to Giosue for receiving his first call-up to the Italy Under-19s squad.

“He has been called-up on merit after progressing with us in the Under-17s and this will be an excellent experience for him.

“I’m sure he will come back to us with even more confidence, which will ultimately benefit both Huddersfield Town and Giosue a lot over the next coming seasons.”
