The Opposition
2018/19 was Rochdale AFC’s fifth successive season in Sky Bet League 1 consolidating their status in the league with a sixteenth-place finish.
The Club won four of their last six games of the Sky Bet League 1 campaign to comfortably avoid relegation at the end of the season.
Current Manager Brian Barry-Murphy took over from Keith Hill in the latter stages of the campaign having previously spent eight years at the Dale as a player.
Ahead of their Sky Bet League 1 season, key members of the squad include midfielder Oliver Rathbone and the Club’s all-time top scorer Ian Henderson.
The game will be Rochdale’s second outing of pre-season having fallen to a 1-0 defeat to Portuguese side SC Farense over a week ago.
Town have fond memories of their last meeting with the Dale; coming away from Spotland as 4-0 victors with a brace from Michael Hefele and goals from Collin Quaner and Izzy Brown seeing Town through to the next round of the FA Cup.
