This year’s PPG Cup was the biggest and the best yet as over 1,200 children and 126 junior football teams took part!

It wasn’t only the winning teams that received a prize, every player who competed in the tournament walked away with a certificate signed by Head Coach Jan Siewert!

The six-a-side tournament also offered a wide range of activities to keep the entire family occupied throughout the day and plenty of refreshments to complete the full family experience.

One of those was the special penalty shoot-out competition, which saw a youngster win four tickets to Huddersfield Town’s first home game of the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship season.

Huddersfield Town’s Partnership Executive, Jon MacDonald, commented:

“I would like to start by congratulating all the PPG Cup 2019 winners! There was some excellent football on show and all the teams and children should be proud of their performance.

“To support the fantastic football on show, we had a team of excellent volunteers who helped out at the tournament all weekend; staff from PPG, students from Kirklees College and staff at Shelley Community FC.

“Without all these people it would’ve been impossible to have such an amazing weekend.

“I think it’s fair to say that all the children had a great weekend, as you can see from the pictures, and that the tournament was a huge success.

“This was the biggest and the best PPG Cup yet, so I can’t wait to see what next year holds!”

Once again, Birstall-based PPG Architectural Coatings UK & Ireland, manufacturer of leading trade paint brands Johnstone’s Trade and Leyland Trade, is lending its support to the PPG Cup as part of its sponsorship of Huddersfield Town’s PPG Canalside training facility on Leeds Road.
