Herbert Bockhorn says that previously working with Jan Siewert made it an easy decision for him to join Huddersfield Town.

The 24-year-old defender previously worked with Town’s Head Coach when both were at Borussia Dortmund II, with Bockhorn admitting an improvement in his own performances under the stewardship of Jan Siewert.

“When he came to Dortmund there was a difference in the team and since the first day, I had a very good relationship with him. He saw something in me and developed something and that was a time I got better as a player.

“I think the relationship got better over time and we both understand and know each other and that’s why it works – and will (continue to) work I think.

“I’m a fast player and he helped me learn how to use my speed; that’s the key thing. I also learnt lots of tactical things from him.

“We talked a lot before I moved. He said my type of football and my type as a player fits perfectly in English football and he said it’s a big chance for me, that’s what convinced me to come here."

Town’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window explained why it was the right for a new challenge and join The Terriers:

“It’s a whole new challenge for me," explained Bockhorn.

“It’s another country, another league and new people. I’ve been in Dortmund now for three years and I developed myself there and got in a good position. Now for me, it’s the time to develop and that’s why Huddersfield is for me the right decision.”
