Huddersfield Town Head Coach Jan Siewert went into detail about how the players are still adapting to his playing style ahead of the Club’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

The 36-year-old was beaten in his first game in charge as the Terriers as they lost 1-0 to Everton despite performing well.

In his press conference, he explained that there were both positives and negatives from that game.

“I was quite close from seeing what I want from my players (against Everton), expect for the last 10 minutes – this is not the way I want to play, and I was surprised by how the players behaved in that period.

“After this game we had a match meeting in the morning and talked about the game and what we saw, and they were also surprised and said ‘Coach, we don’t know why we did that.’

“This is something we have to work on, so it continues like it did in the 70 minutes before it.”

It was the positives from that performance that provides Jan with the confidence that, despite being 12 points way from safety, Town can stay in the Premier League.

“We have to look to get three points from every game. I am still convinced because, yes, I saw what happened within the first 10 minutes of the Everton game, but then I saw the following 70 minutes, which made me proud because there were possibilities for us to put the game in our direction.

“I have to mention that I’m not a magician, I came here to develop something, to develop players and a certain style of play. I am proud and confident.

“We will focus on each game as it's given to us. I know that we will go for three points in each game.”

Chelsea come into this game unbeaten at home in five games but lost 4-0 to AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night – the Club’s last outing.

Town’s Head Coach, however, puts results to one side when analysing his opponents.

“They lost yesterday but it was an opportunity for me to observe Chelsea once more. I know the situations, which could bring them difficulties.

“I’m focused on that and not what happened in the last game against AFC Bournemouth.”

22-year-old midfielder Philip Billing has missed Town’s last two games through injury, but Jan Siewert revealed he is back in training.

“I think he will be back (for the Chelsea game). He trained yesterday and made a good impression.

“Hopefully today he can train as good as yesterday, I’m looking forward to him being part of my squad.”
