Positives to take from Huddersfield Town's Elite Development Team despite

- Huddersfield Town Under-19s lose to Blackburn Rovers
- Joel Coleman was the only First Team player involved
- Dean Whitehead’s Huddersfield Town EDT performed well at the Blackburn Rovers Academy

Huddersfield Town’s Elite Development Team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers despite a promising performance at Blackburn Rovers Academy.

The game had several chances for the Young Terriers in both halves, but the final six minutes proved crucial.

Town had the majority of the ball throughout the game, with midfielder Ben Jackson having a strong chance in the opening minutes. His impressive right-footed effort was well saved by the young Blackburn Rovers ‘keeper.

Town’s second chance came just four minutes later when great play from Demeaco Duhaney created a chance for captain, Scott High. However, the midfielder’s shot went just wide of the post.

The first goal of the game came in the form of a disputed penalty for Blackburn, with Dan Butterworth netting the ball just left of Town ‘keeper Joel Coleman.

Town’s Demeaco Duhaney responded with a strong kick, but it was met with a double handed save from Blackburn’s ‘keeper.

Kit Elliot came on for Tom Bell in the second half, and was key in helping Town dominate possession and create chances.

As with in the first half, Town’s first chance of the half came through Ben Jackson within the opening few minutes, but, once again, unfortunately was met by Blackburn’s ‘keeper.

Not to be deterred, Town kept up the pace and had another chance. This time, a header from Rarmari Edmonds-Green minutes later went marginally wide of the post.

More great play followed between Micah Oberio and Jaheim Headley to create a chance that ended up going agonisingly wide.

Heading into the final 20 minutes Ben Jackson provided his third chance of the game, only to be met yet again by a double handed save from Blackburn’s ‘keeper.

In search of an equaliser, Dean Whitehead brought on Kian Harratt, who has been in prolific form for Town’s Under-17s, and he was immediately involved.

Excellent play from Aaron Rowe allowed Kian to get involved straight away, creating the chance for a header, which he didn’t get clean contact on and went wide.

The final six minutes of the game saw a strong huddle of three Blackburn players by Joel Coleman that Town was unable to break - allowing the hosts to slip two goals past Coleman, the second of which was in the 90th minute.

Huddersfield Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1)
