Town striker recalled from Wrexham and loaned to Rochdale

- Huddersfield Town Academy’s Rekeil Pyke joins Rochdale on loan
- Young striker recalled from previous loan at Wrexham
- Comments from Academy Manager Leigh Bromby

Huddersfield Town striker Rekeil Pyke has been recalled from his loan spell at Wrexham and will now join Sky Bet League 1 side Rochdale for the rest of the 2018/19 season.

The 21-year-old has played an important role for The Dragons as they fight for promotion from the Vanarama National League this season.

He leaves them four points from table-topping Leyton Orient having netted five times in 14 starts and nine substitute appearances in the league. Rekeil recovered from a recent hamstring injury to put in a Man of the Match performance in the weekend win over Maidenhead, setting up the only goal of the game.

He now steps up two divisions to join Rochdale, managed by Keith Hill, who are currently 22nd in Sky Bet League 1; only in the relegation zone on goal difference.

Huddersfield Town Academy Manager Leigh Bromby explained:

“I would like to begin by thanking Wrexham for taking Rekeil on loan again this season and helping with his development.

“The first six months of the season has been great for Rekeil, who has really stepped up and started to show the ability that we knew he had. He’s adapted well to senior football and improved his game, so he deserves a lot of credit.

“He’s earned the chance to challenge himself at a higher level now and this move to Rochdale should be perfect for him. Rochdale has a lot to play for between now and the end of the season and I’m sure Rekeil will help them. We will watch him closely as he looks to take the next step in his career.”
