Jon Gorenc Stanković’s belief that Huddersfield Town can turn the current situation around was evident following the Club’s defeat to Bristol City in the Emirates FA Cup.

Town was knocked out of the competition following Josh Brownhill’s second half strike, meaning that’s nine straight defeats for the Terriers.

When speaking after the defeat, Jon explained that Town’s luck in front of goal cost them in the Emirates FA Cup game, but he still remains positive the Club can bounce back from this run of form.

“It’s a disappointing result. Of course, we conceded an unlucky goal, but we had quite a few chances.

“It feels like we are on the wrong side of it. We need to turn this around, score some goals and then the results will come.

“We need to turn this around, stop missing chances and starting scoring goals, then everything will be different.

“The best thing for the whole team is that we stick together, that we keep with our plan and keep doing everything we can to turn this around.”

The Slovenian Under-21 international made his first start since the end of August in the match at Ashton Gate, however, the youngster has been involved in a number of Premier League match day squads between those times.

He explained why it was important for him to be back on the pitch against a side like Bristol City.

“It was an amazing feeling for me to play some football again. It’s really good for me personally, but the result was bad. I hope that I took my chance this evening.

“Every game is a big physical battle, you can’t get away from it. So, it was good for me and the other guys that Bristol City was a physical team. Now we will play against Cardiff, a very physical team so it helped us prepare for them.”

Around 800 Huddersfield Town supporters were in the stands at Ashton Gate and the 22-year-old defender reserved a special message for them.

“I’d like to thank every single supporter that came to support us. It means the world to us.

“Now we are in a tough period and I hope with the fans and the team we can turn this around and stick together as a club, then everything will be fine. We have to keep the faith!”
