Mark Hudson praised Huddersfield Town’s team spirit, despite falling to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, and said it was a performance to be proud of.

The Terriers put in a hard-fought performance against the reigning Premier League Champions in front of an electric home crowd at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Hudson spoke to #HTTV after the game of the pride he felt leading the team.

“It was a proud moment for me to be able to do that today and I think the players showed the intent that I asked for.

“I asked them to show a real togetherness and they did that right until the last seconds.”

Despite falling behind 1-0 at half-time due an unlucky deflection, a valiant second-half performance saw

Town enjoy several periods of possession as they further and further grew into the game the deeper the half went on.

Steve Mounié had a chance to get on the scoresheet late on as Town pressed through the like of Mbenza and Diakhaby, who worked hard to find themselves in space.

Hudson said he was pleased that his side could cause a few problems for the opposition.

“I think we were growing into the game. We were a bit nervous early on and then we started to creep towards the ball and cause them a few problems.

“The deflected goal deflated the team a bit, which you could sense, but we stayed in the game.

“They stayed fighting until the last seconds of the game.”
