Huddersfield Town’s Club Captain Tommy Smith explained how the players will keep working hard following the Club’s defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Terriers lost 5-0 against the Blues, but had performed well, especially prior to the hosts second goal.

Town’s right-back reviewed the game when speaking to #HTTV post-match.

“We knew it was going to be tough today, Chelsea are a top side with quality players. It’s a tough place to come, Stamford Bridge, so it was a difficult one for us.

“I think the second goal probably killed the game from my point of view. At 1-0 we were definitely in the game, we had a couple of little bits and pieces in the first half.

“They did apply pressure because they were at home, but I thought we were well in the game in the first half.

“The decision just before half-time knocked the stuffing out of us a little bit. In the second half it was tough for us to recover.

“Overall it was a tough day, but we will regroup, carry on and get back on the training pitch, ready for next week against Arsenal.”

At the end of the match Tommy, Town’s Head Coach Jan Siewert, the rest of the players and the coaching staff all went over the applaud the sold out away end at Stamford Bridge.

The Terriers’ Club Captain explained how much the supporters’ backing really means to him.

“Going over to thank the fans at the end of the game was the least we could do.

“We came here tried to play and get a result but, ultimately, they paid their hard-earned money to get down here to watch us.

“It’s a long way for them, we get that, it’s a Saturday, their weekend, I know some people don’t think we appreciate that, but I certainly do and so do the other lads.

“We really do appreciate the fans’ support, it makes a massive difference, especially when we aren’t getting results. It’s something we really do appreciate and can’t thank them enough for.”
