Do you remember Huddersfield Town’s 2-1 away victory against Newcastle United in the Sky Bet Championship last season?

The Terriers’ last away match at St. James’ Park came just last season when Town came through 2-1 winners as the sides met in the Sky Bet Championship.

The victory was Town’s first win over Newcastle since 1963 and the Club’s first win at St. James’ Park since 1953!

Nakhi Wells opened the scoring for Town in first half stoppage time after turning Rajiv van La Parra’s cross into the bottom corner of the Newcastle goal.

Rafa Benitez’s side were given a lifeline early in the second half after being awarded a penalty for Mark Hudson’s handball. Dwight Gayle’s initial penalty was saved by goalkeeper Danny Ward, but he headed home the rebound and subsequently the equaliser.

However, it would be Town that would come away with all three points. Kasey Palmer did well to shield the ball before playing Jack Payne through on goal. The attacking midfielder hit a fierce effort into the bottom corner and secured a late winner for The Terriers.

Payne’s goal was his first for Town after completing his move from Southend United earlier that summer.
