Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant believed the point at the DW Stadium was the tight result after a battling performance.

Karlan’s second half strike pulled Town level after they went behind against the Latics late in the first 45.

When speaking after the game, the striker detailed how Town improved in the second half.

“Firstly, we are happy to get a point. First half we weren’t good enough, I wasn’t good enough. We came in and got a bollocking from the Manager and came out and were better. It still could’ve been better, but overall it was probably the right result to get a draw.

“I think we lacked a bit of fight. We were second to most things but didn’t really let them have any clear-cut chances. We lacked that fight out of possession.

“Second half we were better. We tried to push for our second towards the end, but you could see that we didn’t want to be too expansive and needed to make sure we were tight at the back.”

Karlan’s goal was his 12th of the Sky Bet Championship season as he curled the ball into the top corner from just inside the area.

“It was probably (my best goal of the season). It was a good finish, but I’m still disappointed with my first half performance,” said the striker.

“I just try to go where the defenders show me, the defenders show me inside, so I tried to cut in and get my shot off early.”
