Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley is “definitely looking forward” to the West Yorkshire Derby tomorrow.

The Terriers welcome to Leeds United to the John Smith’s Stadium tomorrow, a side currently sat in second place.

The Whites head into tomorrow off the back of a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough, a result which took their current unbeaten run to eight games.

When speaking to the press, Town’s Manager admitted he knows how important this local derby is.

“It’s a game we are definitely looking forward to.

“When we took over the job, we were aware quickly that it was an important game for everyone associated to the Club.

“It’s not the easiest of local derbies, I’ve had easy, but it’s a great game.

“The form book and league positions go out the window in local derbies.

“We see it as a one-off game and a little bit like a cup match.

“Marcelo Bielsa has his Leeds United team playing a really aggressive brand of football, huge intensity, run really hard for each other, play with purpose and will be a really tough opponent; they will be a tough challenge.”

Following their loss to Bristol last week, Danny explained that the team have been looking ahead and are determined to give back to the fans tomorrow.

“We want to make sure that we represent ourselves in the way that’ll allow us to leave the Stadium and be proud.

“We know what it means to the supporters, understand how important this game is in their lives and need to make sure we do everything in our powers to give the very best we have.

“To show the energy, determination and courage to leave everything we have on the pitch. If we do that, then we’ll be able to live with ourselves.

“Ultimately in this world you can only do your best, whatever your best is.

“Tomorrow we are determined to do our best, whatever that is.”

Town are still plagued by injury issues of late, but Danny Cowley admits that it’s all part and parcel of football and being a manager.

“We’ve definitely got some injury issues. It’s been a challenge all week as to where we are with fit bodies.

“Sometimes I think you have these moments and when you have an unbalanced squad at the beginning and have picked up contact injuries like we have, all of a sudden a snow ball affect can be created.

“It’s not easy but it is what it is.

“We’ve called four young players back from their loan spells.

“We wouldn’t do that unless we felt it was necessary and we wouldn’t do it to the players if we didn’t think they’d come in and play a pivotal role in the coming weeks.

“We see an opportunity for them.”
