Further senior experience for three Academy players

- Dom Tear joins Gateshead on a season-long loan
- Centre back Oran Thompson also moves to Hyde United
- Winger Andrew Ijiwole joins Ossett on work experience

A trio of Huddersfield Town Academy players have moved out on loan to further their experience of senior men’s football.

Attacking midfielder Dom Tear, 19, has today joined Vanarama National League side Gateshead on a season-long loan. It’ll be a second spell in men’s football for former Academy Player of the Year Dom, who scored twice in eight games for Northern Irish side Larne last season.

Gateshead, managed by former Newcastle United centre back Mike Williamson, sit 15th in their division after the opening four games of the new campaign.

Centre back Oran Thompson, also 19, is also on the move, joining BetVictor Northern Premier League team Hyde United on loan for the season. Like Tear, Oran has previous experience of the senior game through a previous work experience spell at Liversedge.

Led by former York City player David McGurk, they start their season at home to Basford United on Saturday.

Finally, 17-year-old winger Andrew Ijiwole has joined BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One North West team Ossett United on work experience. It’ll be a first experience of senior football for Andrew in the seventh tier of the English football pyramid.

Ijiwole joined Town’s Academy in the summer of 2018 and made 38 appearances for the Under-17 side last season, as well as a further two games for the Under-19s.
