New signing Trevoh Chalobah admitted that it was a discussion with Jan Siewert that persuaded him to join Huddersfield Town.

The young midfielder, who was reportedly subject to interest from clubs overseas and domestically, joined the Terriers on transfer deadline day on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Trevoh explained what Jan Siewert said to him that persuaded him to join the Club.

“First of all, I want to say thank you to the Club, the Head Coach and everyone who has brought us here today. I can’t wait to get started.

“The Head Coach here showed the most interest in me, said he wants to work with me in the team as well and felt that he could improve me as a player.

“I think it’s important for a player that the Head Coach runs you through your game to see where you can improve; that’s always the main thing, where you can improve.

“He knows your attributes, but it’s always important to improve and get better, that’s what made my decision.”

In Jan Siewert’s 4-3-3 system, he likes to play with a big number 6 (aka defensive midfielder) and the 20-year-old fits that mould perfectly.

“I like getting on the ball, playing forward and hopefully I can bring that to the team,” said the midfielder.

“I would say my long range passing, driving forward with the ball and getting the ball up the pitch are my main attributes.

“Being able to play as a centre-back going into that position, you are already thinking about defending. I would like to bring that to the team too.

“I’m happy that he believes in me to play in that role. I think this role is very important, to get the six on the ball, get things forward through long range passing. The six starts off the attack.”

The young midfielder is eligible to play against QPR on Saturday and explained how eager he is to put on the Town shirt.

“I can’t wait, it’s all I’ve been thinking about, just getting out and playing some games.

“What a way to start on Saturday to try and get that three points.”
