- Schindy discusses the penalty that sealed Town’s promotion

In this week’s edition of The Terrier we spoke to Club Captain Christopher Schindler about the penalty that sealed promotion for Huddersfield Town in 2017.

With the scores level after 120 minutes at Wembley, Town and Reading had to settle for a penalty shoot-out. Schindler scored the winning penalty and he reveals all his thoughts and emotions on the day.

In the newly-styled featured player piece, the Captain explains that his decision to take the decisive spot-kick came down to his gut feeling.

“I had never taken a penalty before in professional football, but I felt straight away when the final whistle was blown that I should take one. I can’t explain why, it was just instinct.

“It’s hard to describe the walk to the penalty spot, but I just told myself ‘do it, just do it’.

“I remember seeing my wife and she said: “Are you absolutely crazy? Why would you take a penalty?” There were tears in her eyes and she had a huge smile on her face.”
