Huddersfield Town Head Coach Jan Siewert says his side will try everything to take points when they travel to face QPR on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers campaign began with a 2-1 defeat to Derby County and Siewert spoke about some of the positives he saw from his team despite the defeat.

“First of all, I learnt a lot from the first half because I saw the players in pre-season behave a bit different to the games; the pressure is different.

“In the second half, we changed. I believe we deserved better than zero points. In the end we didn’t get that, but I saw good things that we did and that’s what I want to see against QPR.

“There were possibilities to score, but then when you don’t score that’s of course sad and you’re disappointed, but we created the possibilities; that was the important thing for us.”

This weekend’s opponents started the season under new boss Mark Warburton with a 2-1 win away over Stoke City. Siewert recognises the threats they pose but is confident that his own team can cause them problems.

“They made big changes in the squad. They brought in many new players, it was interesting how they played, and I have to find the fit of how we play against them.

“They’re a big threat in transition, offensive transition. They have pace, I think of [Eberechi] Eze and the other players they have around him, which is impressive. As I said after Derby, we have the threats to move them.”

Siewert believes it’s important that, with games coming thick and fast, Town go to The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium with the intention of taking points from the game.

“We go there to try everything to win, because of course we were not happy to start with zero points. We saw their game and analysed it, we then analysed our own game; now we have to find solutions to compete and go and win.

“It is important for me that we get something out of the game there.

“We will try everything for it.”

Town’s Head Coach also gave an injury update confirming there were no new injury concerns.

He also gave an update on Juninho Bacuna who had hobbled off with an injury on Monday night.

“He trained today. I hope the calf is not reacting. We will see tomorrow morning how it reacted [and] then we will see what is possible with him.”
