Huddersfield Town Head Coach Jan Siewert bemoaned his side’s poor performance against Lincoln City at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Terriers were beaten 1-0 by the Imps in the First Round of the Carabao Cup following a 55th minute goal from winger Harry Anderson.
When speaking after the game, Town’s Head Coach showed his frustrations.
“Many things went wrong, and I can’t defend that performance.
“The performance in total was not good. I didn’t like it at all and neither did the players.
“I had to talk to the players honestly and I did this in the dressing room, they were honest as well.”
Jan sympathised with the Huddersfield Town supporters who were rightly disappointed with the result, explaining that his players didn’t show the right fight.
“We had no player who came injured from the pitch or was willing to hurt themselves, we were way too nice. I don’t want nice performances. The players said this in the dressing room as well.
“I totally understand that the fans were disappointed today. If I was standing in the stand, I wouldn’t have been pleased with this performance. It’s understandable.”
The Head Coach made a number of changes for the Lincoln City game and admitted that it’s helped him gain a better picture of his squad.
“I always learn things. I saw a pressure situation that was totally different than when the players played in pre-season.
“In the next few hours there’s a game against Fulham, which is an incredibly hard game. There will be a different line-up.
“Still today I learnt from some players in a negative and positive way.”
