Goalkeeper Kamil Grabara felt sorry for the Huddersfield Town fans after the Terriers were beaten 2-1 on the Club’s opening game of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Grabara, who joined Town on loan from Liverpool FC in the summer, gave his view on the game when speaking to #HTTV!

“Obviously you can point out what went wrong and what was good, but it wasn’t easy to be 2-0 down after 20 minutes in your first game at home.

“We managed to get one back and I felt that we were close to scoring in the second half. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the goal.

“We work as a team, win as a team and lose at a team. We need to figure out what we can do better. There’s 45 games to go but this is not the start we wanted to have.”

Town started the second half brightly, but the efforts came to no avail as Phillip Cocu’s side held firm to win the three points.

Kamil explained what Jan Siewert told the players at half-time and how positives can be taken despite the result.

“We spoke at half-time about what we could do better, and the second half was promising. I’m not going to say it was much better, but it was promising.

“The first half was one to forget and we need to take the points that went wrong. They stayed low and it was difficult to break through. In the Championship you have to be ruthless.”

It was the youngster’s first competitive appearance for the Club, and he explained the pride that gave him.

“I’m happy I made my debut for a big club.

“I feel sorry for the fans who were in the Stadium. I don’t know how many were there, I can imagine over 20,000 probably. First game of the season this isn’t the result you want to get.

“I’m happy to make my debut, but I hope there’s many more games to come. I think I can contribute better and help the team to get the points.”
