Huddersfield Town Caretaker Head Coach Mark Hudson wants to give the supporters something to shout about on Wednesday night against Cardiff City.

The Terriers travel to Wales on Wednesday evening looking for their first win of the 2019/20 campaign.

Following Jan Siewert’s departure, Mark Hudson stepped up to be Caretaker Head Coach and held his first training session this morning (Monday 19 August 2019).

When speaking to the press, he explained that he’s ready for the test ahead of him.

“I’m looking forward to this week, but I’m not looking too far beyond that. I’m enjoying it and will put my stamp on things.

“The players have been receptive and were great this morning, they’ve worked hard, and it’ll be a clear message of what we’ll do in the game.

“We’re in this business to win games. We’ll go into the upcoming game looking to do that. We will see where we go after that.

“We want to show the Club and the fans something. We want to give them something to shout about.”

Hudson was keen to use this time to show his managerial prowess, immediately working with the players on his style of play.

He explained to the press what that is and how it linked in with the Club’s identity.

“I think I have my own ideas on the way we should play and the identity of this club. We need to get back to showing that and getting the fans behind us.

“I think we need high energy, we need to keep the ball for longer, keep hold of possession longer and if we do that then it gives us a shout. Then, out of possession, win the ball back as quickly as we can.

“It’s about the energy, going into each game feeling we can get something out of it with a principle and fundamentals in that.

“I’ll give every single player the opportunity to show me what they’ve got, and I will make judgements on their training and their performances.

“It’s a fresh start for everyone, they all have to buy into that and then have to show me what they’ve got. I’ll make decisions based on that.”

Hudson takes Town to South Wales to face Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City on Wednesday evening.

The Terriers’ Caretaker Head Coach played for the Bluebirds between 2009 and 2014, but explained he’s fully focused on picking up three points.

“I was at Cardiff five and a half years. I hope it’s a good reception but that’s by the by. Once the game kicks off, we’re there to get points.

“I watched them yesterday (against Reading) and it wasn’t the sort of performance you expect from a Neil Warnock side. I know that they’ll be right up for it at home on Wednesday.

“It’s a tough place to go but we’ll focus on ourselves and what we can try and do to achieve some points out of the game. We have an idea and it’s down to us on the pitch to try and do that.

“It’s a situation that we have to enjoy. We have to look at each other in the eye and be honest with it and we’ll have an idea come Wednesday night of what we’re going to implement in the game and it’s down to the players to show it.”
