Tom Bamford talks about his 2018/19 campaign with Huddersfield Town Academy

Huddersfield Town Under-17 defender Tom Bamford talks about how he’s developed during the 2018/19 season.
The youngster didn’t have the best start to the season due to injury, but has since gone on to play with the Elite Development Team.
“This season’s been really rood. At the start of the season I had a few setbacks through injury but now getting into it I’ve had a good run of games and I’ve really enjoyed it.
“Playing for the Elite Development Team has been a really good step up. It’s really good being able to play with other players that are at a high standard and I really enjoy playing with them.”
Bamford has made 23 appearances for the Under-17s as well as games away in Europe with the Under-19s, which he says have been beneficial.
“The new set of games that they’ve organised is really good for us as development. Obviously it’s a different type of opponent and a different type of play to what we’re usually used to, so yeah it’s been really good.”
Tom joined the Academy at Under-14 level, and tries to help his new team mates settle into life in Yorkshire as much as possible.
“I’d say I’m quite good at helping them settle in. I feel like I’ve tried my best and I think that we’re getting there now.”
Bamford has been sure to take as many opportunities as possible this season, and is quick to praise the coaches for all their help.
“The coaches have helped me so much. All their expertise, all their knowledge they give to us. It’s helped me a lot – both learning new things and how to play the game.
“The improvements that I’ve seen in my own personal game are quite big, both physically and technically.”
Bamford and Town’s Under-17s are back in Youth Alliance League action on Saturday 27 April 2019.
The Young Terriers are away to Doncaster Rovers, the game will kick-off at 11am.
