Huddersfield Town defender Tommy Smith admits it is difficult to keep bouncing back from defeats but that the team will keep on persevering.
Tommy spoke after Town’s 2-1 home defeat to Watford and says that it is tricky to keep recovering from the setbacks that the team are suffering.
“It’s very hard, it’s been difficult for a while now, but it is what it is.
“We’ve got three games left now and the attitude of the Club, the staff and the players hasn’t changed, we still want to win football matches, but it’s easier said than done.
“We’re up against top opposition week in week out in the Premier League which makes it difficult. But we’ll keep on going.”
Smith feels that Town played to a decent standard today but acknowledges that any error that you might make tends to be punished in the Premier League.
“We performed okay, very well in parts, not so good in other parts. But as I’ve said numerous times this league can hurt you if you do make a silly mistake.
“Every little mistake here and there, it gets punished. Whereas perhaps in the Championship, you may not. In the Premier League, you tend to as we’ve found out this year.”
Despite the loss, one of the positives today was the senior debut of young midfielder Matty Daly. Smith was happy to see the No.41 make his bow.
“He’s lively. He’s very good with the ball as everyone has seen today.
“It’s great for him to make his debut, he’ll have that for the rest of his career and hopefully he can keep working hard and push on and make many more appearances for the Club.”
