Pedal for Pounds 10 with Made By Cooper gets underway as the cyclists travel to Zeebrugge

- Over 200 cyclists raising money for the YAA and Charity Partners
- Cyclists surprised with orange cycling shirts once onboard the ferry
- Pedal for Pounds 10 is in association with Made by Cooper

Huddersfield Town’s Pedal for Pounds 10 with Made by Cooper bike ride, ‘The Chairman’s Choice’, got underway yesterday (Monday 29 April 2019), with cyclists heading to Hull from the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Stotts Coaches and Maritime took the riders and their bikes respectively to Hull, where the group caught the overnight ferry to Zeebrugge in Belgium before embarking on the first day of cycling today (Tuesday 30 April 2019).

Over 200 cyclists are taking part in this year’s ride, and they were treated to a surprise yesterday evening after being invited to gather in the Red Deck Lounge once onboard the ferry.

Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth got the evening’s proceedings underway before showing the cyclists a journey through the previous nine Pedal for Pounds rides. You can watch that below.

Chairman Dean Hoyle then took to the stage to thank everybody for all of their help during every Pedal for Pounds event, before being presented with an exclusive orange cycling shirt that the cyclists will have to wear in the Netherlands on day four of the trip.

This year’s Pedal for Pounds 10 with Made by Cooper ride, ‘The Chairman’s Choice’, will raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Town Foundation, Kirkwood Hospice and Ruddi’s Retreat.

The ride, which is 323-miles in total, will begin on Tuesday 30 April 2019 and it will finish at PPG Canalside on Friday 3 May 2019; the cyclists will then complete a lap of honour prior to the game against Manchester United at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday 5 May 2019.

During the first day’s cycling, the riders will cycle 71 miles through the medieval city of Bruges before carrying on to Antwerp where they will spend the Tuesday night.

There will be an early start for the cyclists on day three as they depart Antwerp at 9am on the Wednesday to take on the longest stretch of the trip; a 102-mile journey towards Amsterdam.

After spending the night in Amsterdam, the cyclists will then race 62 miles through The Hague and Rotterdam in order to catch the ferry back to Hull.

The final day of cycling will see the cyclists ride the final 88 miles back to PPG Canalside via Scunthorpe United’s Glanford Park and Doncaster Race Course to complete the journey.

Once again, the ride is being held in association with Made by Cooper; a local company with respected worldwide reputation for quality and design.

Based in Lion Chambers in Huddersfield, St George’s Square, the company creates enamel lapel pin badges, patches, medals, socks and much more, with a team of professional designers to help realise your ideas.
