Messages of equality, diversity and inclusion promoted at the Spurs match

Huddersfield Town will put the spotlight on its work towards equality, diversity and inclusion when the Club hosts Tottenham Hotspur at the John Smith’s Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday 29 September 2018.
The new ‘Terriers Together’ brand builds on the previous work promoted through the annual ‘Town for All’ matches and highlights the excellent work the Club and the Town Foundation does in community to ensure the Club is accessible for all.
The match against Tottenham Hotspur takes place over National Inclusion Week, which is an annual campaign run by Inclusive Employers to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion in the workplace and highlight the business benefits to having a diverse and included workforce.
Huddersfield Town’s Supporter Services Manager Robyn Kennerdale commented:
“Huddersfield Town is committed to making football inclusive for everyone and this dedicated game will provide a platform for fans, players and staff to show our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in sport.
“We want everyone to feel welcome at Huddersfield Town and want to come back time and time again. We’re proud of our well-earned reputation as a community club and our Terriers Together game will only further this status.”
To support this, David Wagner’s First Team squad will warm-up in specially designed Terriers Together t-shirts.
Not only this but the official match day programme, The Terrier, includes exclusive content around the Club’s commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion through its work towards the Premier League Equality Standard, and by the development and progress made by the Club’s equality working group. Whilst the clap banners show the good work the Club’s Official Charity, The Town Foundation, is doing to promote the message of ‘Terriers Together’.
The Town Foundation’s Head of Inclusion, Abbi Andiyapan, commented:
“We recognise that Huddersfield Town is an intrinsic part of the local community, which contributes to the quality of life of many people and has the ability to support and promote community cohesion throughout the town and wider community.
“Football as a sport itself has the unique ability to bring people together from a wide range of different communities and can provide opportunities for all sections of the community to engage with the Football Club and participate in the community activities provided by our charity, Huddersfield Town Foundation.”
To support this, Huddersfield Town has been a proud supporter of the ‘Kick It Out’ campaign since its inception and was also among the first professional clubs to sign up to the ‘Football vs. Homophobia’ charter in 2013, whilst Town also supports ‘Show Racism the Red Card’, Stonewall’s ‘Rainbow Laces’, ‘Level Playing Field’ and the ‘On the Ball’ Campaign.
