- Total for the charity campaign tops £1.95 million
- YAA to receive half of the funds raised, and the remainder to three local charities

Huddersfield Town is delighted to announce that £245,474 was raised for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign during the 2017/18 season. That fantastic amount takes the total raised for the campaign to over £1.95 million since 2009.

Most of last season’s funds were raised through the Pedal for Pounds 9: The Last Goalpost bike ride in May 2018 which saw 175 supporters visiting the graves of six HTAFC players killed in World War One across France and Belgium. The Club would like to thank the title sponsor of the event, Club partner Made by Cooper.

Peter Sunderland, Chairman of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who partner with the Club on the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign met with Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle to announce the funds raised.

“We are so very proud of our long-standing partnership with Huddersfield Town,” said Peter.

“We have been working with the Club for nearly 10 years now and during that time have met some wonderful people who have supported our joint fundraising efforts, and to those, we are extremely grateful.

“Our heartfelt thanks goes to the staff and supporters at the Club for all their support in making all the ‘Keep It Up’ events such a success.

“This is a truly phenomenal amount of money to receive, and we look forward to working with the Club in the future.”

Huddersfield Town Chairman, Dean Hoyle said:

“Thank you to everyone who has taken part in P4P9 and raised money for the Keep It Up campaign.

“We’ve raised over £245,000 last year, which is actually amazing, and a lot of people will say that’s life-saving, so well done to everybody and thank you.

“Pedal for Pounds 9 was a fantastic experience; it’s amazing how many people now take part.

“Thank you to all the support staff, without you the cyclists wouldn’t be able to do it. Everything is organised to a tee, so thank you for making it a fantastic event.

“We are now on Pedal for Pounds 10 and close to raising £2 million for the Keep It Up campaign, which is absolutely incredible.”

Huddersfield Town has been shortlisted for the CSR prize at the upcoming Football Business Awards in November 2018. The nomination came after the superb Pedal for Pounds 9 ride.

The Club has donated its half of the funds raised to three charities; the Forget me Not Children’s Hospice who will use the money to fund a nurse’s salary, the Hollybank Trust who are building a training kitchen for the disabled community and the Town Foundation who have purchased defibrillators for local schools in the region. More detail on how the charities are using their funds will follow on htafc.com in the coming weeks.

The Club would like to thank everybody who has supported the campaign in any way.

Details of Pedal for Pounds 10 will be released on htafc.com in due course.
